Custom Crochet Pocket Harness

$222.00

We can always use more pockets—why not add them to every outfit? Now, you don’t have to say “it has pockets!” with surprise whenever you finally find an outfit that has them. You can make sure every outfit has them!

This pocket harness is handmade by me, using the pattern from PhrankVilli as a base, adjusted for my preferences. (See additional info for details.)

Note: This listing is for a CUSTOM crochet harness and is NOT for the item in the photos listed, unless you are wanting that EXACT design replicated. Harnesses will be made to order, in the yarn palette and metal hardware of your choice.

With that said, if you’ve decided that yes, you still want a pocket harness & you want it crocheted for you, this listing includes the following:

  • a custom crocheted harness made to your preferences, with up to 4 colors of your choice

  • your choice of hardware between silver, gun metal, gold, and bronze/aged gold

  • personalized discussion over sizing

  • the ability to dictate color order

  • straps made in the color of your choice

  • a removable front strap that can be attached across the bottom rings or the chest rings—see image for details

The standard design is made to fit sizes ranging from an adult M to adult XXL.

If you need the design to be smaller or larger, please let me know so we can get have accurate measurements. This harness will fit a unisex size small, but loosely. If you’d like it to be more snug, let me know so I can adjust the straps. For children or extra small sizes, I will need measurements.

Average dimensions are the following:

Across the chest: At the tightest: approximately 40”; at the longest: approximately 60”

Length: At the tightest: 16” long. At the longest: 26” long.

These are not made to be tight; they are intended to be worn over clothing, even if it’s wintertime and you’re wearing bulkier sweaters. In the summer, they may fit looser, which is better for breathability in hotter areas.

Yarn:

I use no-pill acrylic yarn for durability, though you can choose a mercerized cotton yarn if you’d prefer all cotton. However, mercerized cotton comes in warmer, more saturated colors which may alter your palette, and is often a little more expensive.

Cleaning:

Harnesses are made of yarn that is machine washable and dry-able. However, to avoid damage to your machines due to the metal hardware, it is recommended to wash and dry the harness in a sealed mesh laundry bag. (A pillow-case that is sealed off may also work.)

Creator’s Note:

As a handmade item, there may be slight imperfections/aspects of the item that indicate that it is indeed handmade and will not have the same characteristics of a machine-made item.

My preference adjustments:

  • I attach a lobster clasp to the straps in order to have the pockets be interchangeable in the future—should someone want to change out only the pockets for a different color pattern. (I would also like to make small additional pockets that could be slid onto the strap if desired.)

  • I have learned that I am not a fan of the D-ring on the middle of the harness—I use an O-ring instead, and use D-rings on the pockets.

  • My pattern for the back triangle is a little different—changed because of how I wanted to adjust colors and I think it feels a little sturdier.

  • I want my pockets to be easily accessible. They do not include a button, but are attached with a stitch across the top that will help keep them closed. However, if someone strongly wants a button, we can discuss the additional cost.

  • Frankly, the pattern was difficult for me to understand regarding the pocket flap, so I’m making the flap the way that I know how to make triangles.

This is mentioned in case someone has seen the viral crochet harness made by PhrankVilli (on etsy, instagram, and pinterest) and is wanting an exact replica. Mine will be a little different, but that’s not at all a slight against the original designer. My changes are strictly due to my preferences.

Note to Self: I’m wonderful.
